Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee
The Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee is a volunteer group created by the Town Supervisor in March 2006 to advise the Supervisor on all issues relating to bicycling and pedestrians. As such, the Committee helped develop the request for the Town’s takeover of Bedford Center Road and the current construction of pathways, obtained money for bike paths through the Transportation Bond Act, started a bicycle patrol in the police department and added bicycle racks throughout the Town.
The task of the Committee is to ensure equity for bicycles and pedestrians in transportation planning in the Town in keeping with the Bedford 2020 initiative, and is developing a Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan.
The goal of the Committee is to connect people, by making it safe and easy for people to have bicycle and pedestrian access to all parts of the Town of Bedford, and ultimately to help make Bedford a livable and sustainable community.
