The NEW YORK STATE TAX Department will mail instructions in early October to all homeowners who currently receive the Basic STAR exemption.  The letters will include a personal STAR code that homeowners will need to register through December 31, 2013.  If you are currently receiving senior citizen exemptions you do not need to register, however you must continue to apply the same way annually.

The Assessor is responsible for setting the assessed value of a piece of property and any buildings, and this is the value upon which a property's taxes are based. You can find out the assessed value of your property by calling this office.

The Assessor is appointed by the Town Board to a six year term.

All exemption applications must be filed on or before June 1st.

Any person with a disability and a limited income, or not-for-profit organizations, should also be in contact with the Assessor.

Residents wishing to contest the values set by the Assessor may appeal to the Board of Assessment Review. Forms must be completed and returned to the Assessor's Office no later than Grievance Day, which traditionally is the 3rd Tuesday in June. Any resident may discuss their assessment with the Assessor at any time during the year.
